Policies & Frequently Asked Questions reguarding Fishing and Hunting Trips

Reservation & Deposit

Reservation should be made well in advance for a specific week and lake. Please mention name of lake and type of fish you desire, and number of persons in your party and time of year you wish to book. A $300.00 deposit per person is required on fishing trips and a 50% deposit is require on hunting trips. Deposit due within ten days of making reservation. Personal check for deposit only. Balance is due in cash, certified check, travelers check or bank draft 30 days prior to your flight in. Taxes to be charged will be 5% GST and 8% PST to the total bill. Exchange rates will be the same as what the bank gives at time of deposit.

Along with the deposit we require a complete list of all members in the fishing/ hunting party for our records. If a member of your group is unable to make the trip his or her deposit will not go towards the told cost. It will be allowed to be used by them on a future trip.

We require Visa or Master Cards or 700.00 cash to be held by us for damge security deposit on boats, motors and cabins.

Cancellation Policies on Fishing Trips. Deposits are non refundable but can be applied to any future reservation.

Cancellation Policies on Hunting Trips. Deposits are non refundable and will not be allow to be use on future reservations.

Float Plane Base:

Our seaplane base is located right in the town Chapleau Ontario. A map with directions will be supplied.

We fly off the Chapleau river. All of our flights are 30-45 minutes.
If you do not stay with us at Kanipahow Resort the night before we ask that you contact the night before so that we know that you have arrived and can update you to your flight time out in the morning. If you drive in late in the night please feel free to park at the air base if you are not getting a room. If we do not talk to you the night before please show up for 7:00 am. Please be patience if no one is right at the air base for 7:00 am we wont be far away.

There is a100 lbs per person weight allowance, total of 400 lbs for groups of four people. Any deviation from allowance weight would create an extra flight. Please see rate page for extra flight cost. No exceptions! Just be careful how you and your group pack, try not to double up on gear. If everyone in your group drinks beer you will most likly require a beer flight.

All our lakes are located 30 to 55 miles south of Chapleau Ontario. Chapleau is located 3.5 hours Northeast of Canada-US border at Sault Ste. Marie and 9.5 hours from Buffalo NY border. View contact page for road maps

What we provide at our remote outpost cabins:

  • 7 night 8 day stay
  • Flight in and out, via the legendary BEAVER bush plane from our Chapleau base.
  • Boat, motor,(+ spare) gas, paddles, anchors saftey kits.
  • Propane fridges
  • Life jackets, adult sizes only.
  • Propane Stove and lights.
  • Gas BBQ's with propane.
  • Outdoor chairs.
  • Pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, glasses.
  • Foam mattresses.
  • Wood burning stove for heat. You will be required to gather your fire.
  • Mid-week check flights available upon request only. Please call for pricing.
  • Cell phones do not work. For satellite phone rentals; US residents Call 1-888-636-0707 - Canadian residents 1-416-667-1000. Or call your local cell phone company to find out the nearest Satellite phone dealer.

What guests should bring:

  • Flash light.
  • Dish towels and soap.
  • 10 heavy duty garbage bags.
  • Coleman lantern.
  • Long BBQ lighter and a small roll of paper for starting fires.
  • Back pack for trips to portage lakes.
  • Food and liquids to personal taste.
  • Personal toiletries, towels, pillow, sleeping bag top sheet.
  • Fishing gear, bait & license.
  • First aid kit.
  • Insect repellent (high DEET content recommended)
  • Bug jacket or bug hat.
  • Sun tan lotion (SPF 15 or better)
  • Hiking Boots
  • Rain Gear
